Allegations of a Drug Ring inside of Interscope Records?! They Are Firing Back! Earlier today reports surfaced that Interscope Records, the home of artists like Lady Gaga, U2, and 50 Cent was used by a drug-trafficking ring involving the shipment of equipment cases stuffed with cocaine and vacuum-packed 20 dollar bills.
According to the Smoking Gun, a year-long Drug Enforcement Administration investigation has resulted in the indictment of James Rosemond aka Jimmy Henchman on 18 felony charges. Henchman is the CEO of Czar Entertainment and manager of rapper The Game, who is signed to Interscope.
Sources say Henchman’s associates, who have also admitted to their roles in the operation, have provided prosecutors and DEA agents with insider accounts.....Saying they used “road cases”, which were made specifically for musical equipment, for shipping cocaine from Los Angeles to New York, between January 2010 and June 2011.
The cases were then allegedly stuffed with the proceeds from the cocaine sales and distributed to music studios in Los Angeles.
In a statement released this afternoon, an Interscope company spokesperson responded saying,
"The information being reported in the press regarding Interscope Records' involvement with the ongoing criminal prosecution of James Rosemond is both erroneous and completely unsupported. Interscope Records has been informed by the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York that there is no evidence that any employee of UMG or Interscope Records had any involvement in the drug trafficking ring being prosecuted by that office, nor any knowledge of the contents of any of the packages that were purportedly shipped to its offices. Further, neither UMG nor Interscope Record are a subject or target of the investigation. UMG and Interscope will continue to cooperate with the United States Attorney's Office regarding this matter. "
